οὐδʼ εἰ θέλουσʼ, οἱ Ζηνὸς αἰετοὶ βορὰν
φέρειν νιν ἁρπάζοντες ἐς Διὸς θρόνους,
οὐδʼ ὣς μίασμα τοῦτο μὴ τρέσας ἐγὼ
θάπτειν παρήσω κεῖνον· εὖ γὰρ οἶδʼ ὅτι
θεοὺς μιαίνειν οὔτις ἀνθρώπων σθένει.

πίπτουσι δʼ, ὦ γεραιὲ Τειρεσία, βροτῶν
χοἰ πολλὰ δεινοὶ πτώματʼ αἴσχρʼ, ὅταν λόγους
